The I Am Grandma series is to share the stories of many grandmas with many hidden stories. We see grandmas is kitchen cooking or in the living room watching TV but do we really know how our grandma's lives has been? In a society where everyone is busy living their lives we take the time to pause and listen to others' stories.
EP 4: Grandma's Intimate Brother-Sisterhood
As Lunar New Years is coming up and we are meeting up with our family I want to share this video of my grandmother's intimate relationship with her family. Family and communities have become less important in our modern societies with everybody busy with their own lives, however we need to reconsider how valuable our family is to us.
EP 3: Grandma's Friendship Trip
In this video we remember and cherish the small details of friendship that my grandma and her friends have kept for years. Although they each went their own paths, they were still able to unite even during the years without phones and social media. Even though the methods of hanging out might be different from teenagers and young adults, grandmas have their own ways of holding onto their memories.
EP 1: Grandma's Korean Pancakes
Kwon Kyung Sook is my grandmother and through this interview I was able to know a lot more about her story. Although I visit her almost every 2 weeks there are stories that we often as grandchildren or just people don't get to hear form our grandparents. Through this series, "I am Grandma" I wanted grandmas to have a platform to share their name and stories. My grandmother is the first of many grandmothers that I want to help share their tale.
